BOTHY BAR
The Bothy Bar is no longer managed separately from the hotel and will be run by hotel owners Julie and Martin Shipley. We would like to wish Jody well and thank him for all his hard work over the years. He has had a remarkable stint here and we are sorry to see him go, although we are also happy for him that he can now take a well-earned rest. During that time he has been supported by Debbie and many other staff members, some who will remain with us as we now take the Bothy Bar forward into a new era, and we would like to thank them all. Going forward it will be business as usual although we will be making a few tweaks as we go. We will continue to offer a warm welcome, great food and drink, and the authentic Bothy Bar experience we are so well known for. Our new menu is above in case you'd like to check it out before booking!
OUR NEW BUG HOTEL

We welcomed Strontian Primary School yesterday to name and start furnishing our Bug Hotel in the Bothy Bar beer garden.
Congratulations to Esme Ferguson who won naming our new building “Starbugs”
The school’s eco club will be involved in furnishing Starbugs every Thursday.
IMPROVING OUR OUTDOOR SPACE WITH A NEW BEER GARDEN
We have already been busy outside in early 2025 creating a vastly improved outdoor space for hotel and Bothy Bar patrons, with plenty of seating for all, in a spot that makes the most of our brilliant views. Of course, there is also ample free parking for patrons, so it's the perfect place to stop for an evening meal, and we occasionally do Sunday Lunches too, please keep an eye on our Bothy Bar Facebook page for details, although we will also be posting the menus here and on our hotel social media channels.

STRONTIAN VILLAGE WALKS
There are several great walks in and around Strontian, of varying lengths and difficulty and you'll find a dowload link for some of the shorter, easier walks below. If you're staying with us for a few days, these will give you plenty of options without even getting into your car.
Of course there are plenty of great walks just a little further out of Strontian too, and a stop at one of the local shops to grab a picnic will make them a solid part of a good day out when you reach their best viewpoints.
The Forestryandland website is a really great resource to help you find all the best short walks and viewpoints in the area.
Garbh Eilean Wildlife Hide is worth a special mention as it's a great place to see the local wildlife, involves just a short, steady walk, and is not far out of Strontian. From Strontian, take the A816 west for about 5¼ miles (8.5 km). Garbh Eilean car park is on the left. PH36 4HY is the nearest postcode. If you're after a lovely day out, why not visit the hide then drive on to Salen for lunch at the Salen hotel or jetty tearoom. You can then check out the available tours for another great day out.
