Enjoy a tasty evening meal at the Bothy Bar

The Bothy Bar and Restaurant is part of the hotel building, although it's accessible separately via two external doors - one to the restaurant and the other to the bar. We recommend that our guests automatically reserve a table as it can get busy - we can always release the table later in the day if you don't need it.  If you are visiting the hotel but not staying, please book direct with the Bothy Bar team, you can do that here, and you'll also find you can peruse our current evening meal menu below.

It's a stunning place to enjoy locally influenced dishes whilst you sit by the window overlooking beautiful Loch Sunart. You can also choose to eat outside in the beer garden – weather permitting of course, and we have extended this considerably in 2025 with a large, second beer garden to the side of the hotel.  If you dine inside, you can enjoy viewing local artist and photographer’s work which is displayed on the restaurant walls.

We have a small cosy bar that stocks a large selection of Scottish Whisky and a choice of bottled real ales with a local draught real ale being available during the season. The bar has an open fire and also tables for a bar meal which is great should you have your four-legged friend with you on holiday and don’t want to leave them in the car. You'll find a mix of locals, hotel guests and visitors to the area in the Bothy, and the atmosphere is authentically relaxed as any Highland Bothy should be!

The Restaurant opens at 5.00pm in the Summer until around 8.30pm.

Large groups may require a pre-order.

The bar is open from 5.00pm.

Please do ring and book ahead as the restaurant is regularly fully booked.

What our guests say:

Very good situation by the side of the loch - table for 12 booked prior to visit and menu sorted beforehand. Food was good, well presented and service very good. Weather was superb with the sun setting over the loch - a very special evening was had by all.

Great place, fab views, smashing staff

In this beautiful part of the world, let alone Scotland, there aren't that many decent pubs or places to eat, they're definitely few and far between. But this is one of them. We loved it here.  Spectacular views of the loch from the dining room, and a warm and cosy pub with wonderfully welcoming staff.  It's dog friendly too, both the hotel rooms and the bar, with biscuits and water provided without having to ask.  We ate - chicken breast with haggis and veg followed by sticky toffee pud - very nice pub grub, nothing fancy but definitely tasty.   Be sure to book if you want food, unless you eat early. They were turning people away on the Friday evening in September we visited.

Home from home!

The dinner in the restaurant in the evening was traditional, and beautifully cooked, with very generous portions.

Fantastic 3 night breakaway

Had a fantastic 3 night breakaway recently at the "The Strontian Hotel" on the West Coast Of Scotland and on the bay of Loch Sunart with my boys that are 2 labradors. Staff were very friendly and very attentive and very dog friendly. The room was very spacious , clean and comfortable and I got a room with a view. The food was freshly cooked and very enjoyable . The barman was very polite and it was nice having a conversation with him, and he kept giving my 2 labs water to drink.  I highly recommend this hotel , bar & restaurant.

What a fabulous combination!

We went on several meaty day trips from the hotel and it was great to know we had our booking to come back to at the Bothy. We hadn't planned originally to eat there every night of our stay, but after the first night we  really appreciated the advice we'd had to book every night just in case. The food was right up our street, and it was great not having to drive afterwards too, which we would have had to anywhere else. The portions are generous, staff friendly, and there was plenty of choice on the menu if you fancied something completely different every night - even for the fussy eater in our party. There was even music on one of the nights we were there, and the atmosphere was something we'll remember for a long time to come, it was brilliant. This is clearly the place to go to in this neck of the woods and a bit of a destination for those outside of it, and we can see why. For guests to have this in-house is a massive bonus!
